The non-aggression principle is a moral stance that asserts that it is wrong to initiate violence or coercion against another person or group of people. According to this principle, the use of force is only justified in self-defense or defense of others, when violence or coercion has already been initiated by another party.

When someone initiates violence against another person, they are infringing upon that person's right to life, liberty, or property, and therefore it becomes necessary for the victim to defend themselves.

Self-defense is generally considered to be morally acceptable because it is a way to protect oneself and one's rights from being violated by others. However, it is important to note that self-defense should only be used as a last resort, and that the amount of force used should be proportional to the level of threat faced. In other words, self-defense should not be used as an excuse to engage in unnecessary or excessive violence.
