On my first long-range shooting experience, I shot a Masterpiece Arms PMR 6.5 Creedmoor and a Savage 110 Precision 338 Lapua Magnum at targets a mile away, achieving a distance of 2003 yards with factory ammo. Throughout the following year, I continued honing my skills by hitting a 24”x24” plate at a mile using various 6.5 Creedmoor rifles (MPA, Bergara, Tikka T3x CT, Howa 1500 Hogue). Additionally, I successfully engaged a 36”x36” plate at distances of 2000, 2600, and 3643 yards with the Savage 110 Precision 338 LM, all with factory ammo. This consistent practice greatly improved my long-range shooting proficiency.

I faced wind conditions of W7.9 / 12.0 L, with WS1 at 7 mph and WS2 at 13 mph. Despite these challenges, I used a 375 Enabler to make the shot..

Hit my target at 2859 yards (1.62 miles) holding 68 MOA above and 2 MOA right with a .375 Cheytac. The next day, I was able to hit a 1,250 yard target with a .223. Shepard and Scott at Jackson Hole Shooting Experience were the best guides and really know how to push the limits of long range shooting. I highly recommend joining them if you are interested in going well past a mile!!

It was a warm Wyoming day and event though the mosquitos were out and bothersome, I was able to connect on the 5th round and ring the 2,859 yards away! Shepard and Scott from Jackson Hole Shooting Experience perfectly executed customized, 5-star, long range shooting!

August 18, 2020. Wind speed 10 miles an hour left to right

During a long-range shooting match, I achieved a 22" group with four shots at a distance of 2500 yards (1.5 miles) using a CDX33 in 300 Norma built by Cadex Defence. This performance was consistent, as I replicated the 22" group with another four shots at the same distance using the same rifle. It was a remarkable achievement in precision shooting.

On April 15, 2022, the temperature was 15 degrees Celsius that day and 2.5 millirad of drift. I hit the target with a caliber 338 LM, bullet Hornady A- tip 300 grs.

The wind in morning was about 3 m/s from 10 o'clock, evening wind of about 5 m/s from 3 o'clock. The gun was a 6,5 Creedmoor in subsonic.

On May 5th 2023, I shot a series of targets from 1750 meters, to 1850 meters and ending with 2000 meters. The wind was 2 m/s from the east.

On October 9, 2018 achieved a 1-mile hit with a Ruger Precision Rifle chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor. Scope was a Vortex Razor Gen II and he used Hornady 147 grain ELD ammunition. Barrel was aiming 74 Minutes of Angle (MOA) over the target, which at 1,765 yards is 1,367 inches, or 114 feet! Bullet took about 3.5 seconds to travel to the target, and the sound of the hit took about 4.8 seconds to travel back to our ears. He achieved two hits at 2,175 yards with Mac’s Gunworks Rem 700 rifle chambered in 7mm Remington Magnum. His scope was a Vortex Viper Gen II. You used handloads with 195 grain Berger bullets. At 2,158 yards and 75 minutes of angle in your scope, your barrel was pointed 1,708 inches above the target, or 142 feet. My first hit at 1 mile was at a friend's ranch near 3 Forks Montana on November 8, 2015 with a 300 WinMag. 15 MPH winds made it a challenge, however he was able to get a hit on target eventually. I made a 2,165-yard shot with 103.5 MOA elevation and 14.25 right windage. A storm was moving in just as I made the shot.

Whittington Center in New Mexico, August 2015, Barrett M99 .50 BMG, Bullet flight time was 3.7 seconds, drop was 94 MOA, velocity at target was only 1,100 fps. The 7,500′ elevation and a 5 degree down-slope helped the ballistics. Dustin reports: “About six seconds after impact you would hear the ‘ding’.” (Editor’s note: The speed of sound at 7500′ elevation* is 1053.61 fps, or roughly 351.20 yards per second. The distance-to-target of 2100 yards divided by 351.2 works out to a 5.98 second time delay. )

I used a 6.5 Creedmoor rifle with a Curtis action, Bartlein barrel, and a ZCO optic. The ammunition was hand-loaded, featuring 147-grain Hornady ELD bullets, 39.7 grains of H4350 powder, CCI primers, and Lapua cases. This combination delivered precise and consistent performance at long range!!

18" x 24" target size, 1/2 value Wind 6 mph with gusts to 9 mph. Cold bore hit and followed with 4 more hits. Following that, I had a 2053 yards hit on fathers day 2020. 12 mph full value at full value gusts to 15 mph. No witness for this one.

On May 21st, 2023 I struck the 4x4 steel target with dirt back berm and soft dirt open ground on a mountainside. The wind was 5 MPH left to right and I used a 6.5 Creedmoor Ruger precision rifle, Vortex Viper PST 5-25x50mm scope on 40 MOA base, and Berger 153.5 grain Long Range Hybrid Target ammo. There was 20 Mil elevation plus 4 Mil holdover, 7 Mil L for Spin, h Coriolis, and 4 Mil L for wind.

January 8, 2021, I hit a 2000 yard target with 5mph east to west wind.

Rong a 8 inch steel plate with a 6.5 PRC. AWT 30 inch barrel and action. Jewel trigger. Luepold mark 5. 3 mph wind east to west.

At 2,000 yards with a light 1-3 MPH wind, I nailed a cold bore hit on my first shot of the morning. The impact was solid enough to knock the Caldwell flash indicator off the target! I followed it up with a second shot, landing just four inches from the first. The rifle was a Savage Elite Precision in .338 Lapua, shooting 300-grain Berger OTM rounds with Retumbo powder and Lapua brass!

In competition, I achieved three consecutive hits at an impressive distance of 1,977 yards, captured on film. This was accomplished with my custom .338 Lapua, despite challenging conditions with a full-value 25 mph wind!

The target stood distant at 1807 meters, presenting a formidable challenge. Wind conditions fluctuated between 7mph and 12mph, roughly three-quarters value. With precision equipment - the Preston Crouse Mortician in 338 Lapua, complemented by a Vortex Razor Gen Three 6-36 optic and a SilencerCo Big Bore - I took aim at an 18x24 steel target. Firing 300 grain Berger OTM rounds at a velocity of 2835fps, I achieved a remarkable performance, with three out of four impacts striking true.

As an entrepreneur and OIF/OEF Veteran, I am always working on projects and building opportunities for the future. One of the things I have worked on for a couple years is a long range shooting club I built here in duham for private use. Recently, while shooting my 6.5-300 weatherby I found my sniper skills coming back. Even after being out of the military since 2005. So I went ahead and pushed a target out far enough to wear. It would take me forever to hit it if I ever could, and I started with my Custom .338 Lapua with Hornaday 300gr ammo. On the 7th shot I was on target

With three targets on range,the 2nd target for the day was a 26" steel target set at 1761 yards and the 3rd target was set at 1897 yard. I successfully impacted both of those targets.

With a 10 mph wind gusting from right to left, I adjusted for drift and landed a solid hit on target. The shot held within 1 MOA accuracy, demonstrating precise wind reading and marksmanship at long range.

The 6 Creedmoor caliber was used to achieve a remarkable long-distance shot at 1,826 yards. With a wind speed of just 3 mph, the conditions allowed for precision shooting, demonstrating the caliber's capabilities for extreme long-range accuracy!

The target was set at 1,822 yards, and despite a 6 mph left-to-right wind, the second round successfully hit an 18"x24" target!

Wind was 7-10 mph.!

With a 6.5 Creedmoor rifle firing a 140-grain bullet, I successfully hit a target at 1,820 yards during a long-range shooting session!!

On a hot June Saturday afternoon, I used my Remington 700, rebarreled in 6mm Creedmoor, to send a round downrange to hit an 18x24 steel plate. With the spotter's wind call of 3 mils hold off the left edge, I came just 3 inches short of the plate's center. The shot was made using Hornady 108 ELD Match ammo!!!

I was on target with an 8 mph crosswind.

The equipment used was a Surgeon Chassis system chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor, with a handload of Lapua brass, a Berger 140-grain bullet, and 44 grains of IMR 4350 powder. The temperature was a mild 68°F, with a gentle 0.2 mph wind blowing left to right. Five shots were taken at an impressive distance of 1,805 yards, all successfully striking an 18-inch by 24-inch steel target. This achievement highlights the exceptional precision and reach of the 6.5 Creedmoor for long-range accuracy!

In 95°F heat and a 20 mph northeast wind, I made a successful hit at 1,805 yards on an 18x24 steel target using a Bergara B14 chambered in .300 Win Mag with a Burris Veracity PH scope. The shot was taken at an elevation of 5,312 feet, shooting southward!!

Impact precision 6.5PRC 26” Bartlein barrel from Stuteville precision. 18” target with no prior engagements, 8-15mph wind at 4-6 o’clock. I’ve been working my way out to farther ranges and just put my Ultradyne Apollo LR comp on after deer season, since I normally hunt suppressed. Snow on the ground made the first spotter shot easy to see at 4 MOA high. After a hold correction the next two shots were impacts. Followed by two misses and a third impact. Shooting Hornady Precision Hunter 143gr ELD-X factory ammo. Very impressed!

I aimed at a 2 MOA target at 1800 yards, dealing with approximately 8-10 mph winds..

Sig Sauer Cross-PRS in 6.5 Creedmoor, shooting a 16" steel gong at 1800 yards. Wind was kind of crazy, shifting quickly between 2 and 10+ mph. Really tough to get sighted in; I wasn't even sure I'd made contact until I drove back to retrieve my target, and there it was, a beautiful roundish hole in the paint at 3:00! Made my day.!

At a distance of 1800 yards, I engaged a 2 MOA target with my 6.5 Creedmoor rifle. Utilizing Alpha Brass and loaded with 140 grain Hornady ELD Match bullets, I relied on 40.1 grains of Reloader 16 powder!

August 1st, 2020 using a Weatherby Mark V Trr with a Vortex PST Gen 1 5-25 MRAD. I was at the very edge of my reticle in hold over.

Target was 23x32 steel plate placed at 1792 yards. I am using a caldwell flash bang to identify hits from that distance. It was a calm and warm afternoon for December in Georgia @ 73 degrees and humidity of 61%. Wind was from the 3 oclock and ranging from 1.5-3.4 mph. I am shooting a Remington 700 chambered in 7mm rem mag with Kreiger barrel and Nightforce ATACR 7x35. My hand loads are 168 berger 168 vld's powered by Retumbo powder and Rem LRMP . Dialed elevation was 18.3 Mils and
.3R. My daughter Avery has been spotting me in my last few outings at 1380 yards and now at 1792. I had 3 hits on target. I am not registering 1 of those as a hit, since it contacted the very outer edge of the target. The other 2 were high and right of the target. Pics can be provided of range and target if needed.

July 31, 2018 in Wyoming ... I was home visiting family and got together with my good friend Shepard Humphries who is a shooting instructor. He took me to a place near Jackson Hole, Wyoming and challenged me to hit the one mile target. It took me several shots to get there, but he stuck it out with me until I made the hit. During the time I was preparing to pull the trigger when I actually hit the target, the wind directions kept changing, about 5 to 8 MPH, but I finally got it. I was shooting a .300 WinMag, Remington 700 with Sierra 190 grain BTHP bullets. Shepard Humphries was witness.

Hit the 1,785 yard target using a 6.5 RPR with Nomad Rifleman Extreme Long Range Shooting Experiences, <2 MOA target, Vortex Razor scope.

I have wanted to shoot a 1 mile shot for a couple years now and finally had the opportunity to do so. A friend has a ranch in South Texas and had the space to take the shot. We set the target up at 1784 yards as there was no place to set it up at exactly 1760. I took four shots and the 3rd one hit the target. I had a late start to the day and we were racing sunset to take it. The wind speed was minimal as it was towards the evening. The target was 6ft x 4 ft and leaning up against a bunch of prickly pear cactus.

With Shepard's gear and his spot on initial hold, I had a 2nd shot hit at 1,780 yards. Wind was modest at about 5-7 mph. Ruger Precision Rifle in 6.5 CM with Hornady ELDM 140 gr. custom loads. I never thought I could shoot over a mile! A big item checked off my bucket list! Thanks Shepard!!!

Hit the mile long target with a Savage 110 Elite Precision 6.5 Creedmoor Shot Berger and 153.3 grain factory ammo. 5th shot impact at 2 o'clock, next shot impact at 3 o'clock, then last impact at 11 o'clock.

The elevation was 5290ft and the temp was 84 degrees. The gun used was a Bergara HMR 6.5 Creedmoor shooting 140 grain Hornaday American Gunner BTHP.

Took my Tikka T3X Tac A1 in 6.5 Creedmoor to the range. Verified my zero at 100 yards. Went from 500 yards to 1000, then to 1780 yards. Hit 1780 on my 5th shot. Once I was on target, I watched the wind speed/direction (varied from 5-10 miles per hour) and made 3 more hits on the 18" steel!!!

Took my Tikka T3X Tac A1 in 6.5 Creedmoor to the range. Verified my zero at 100 yards. Went from 500 yards to 1000, then to 1780 yards. Hit 1780 on my 5th shot. Once I was on target, I watched the wind speed/direction (varied from 5-10 miles per hour) and made 3 more hits on the 18" steel!!!

Had my Barrett M99, .416 Barrett Magnum, rifle modified with mercury recoil suppressor. The wind at firing position was light and variable. The wind at target was right-quartering tailwind estimated at 17 mph up-slope. I used Barrett 395-grain 10.5x83mm cartridges!

May 12, 2023. The most important part of the story is that the shooting was from a PCP Airgun ! .22 caliber, 67gr CNC turned lead slug(airgun bullets) not with firearms although the appearance is very similar to the M24 SWS. Over the course of several years, I developed the entire rifle and CNC bullets by myself. Distance 1777 yards, target size 0.95 MOA (green balloon diameter 45cm - 17.7 inches). Picked up some friends at the airport, and went to shoot. The day was 81 degrees and 15mph winds and I made the shot with a 6.5 creedmoor.

Wind was 16 to 20 mph /RPR 6.5 PRC.

On July 10, 2021 across two micro terrain draws and uphill alongside a separate draw through 1400 yards, with a left wind from the 300 mark to the 600 at 7mph. Completely crossing over as a 15mph right wind by the 1,000 and becoming more of a six o'clock wind by the one mile mark. The target was ranged by four different range finders with an average reading of 1776 yards. This final average was intentional. I used a LEDFORD rifle, chambered in 300 PRC, using Hornady 212 grain ELD-X. The impact was within the 1 moa center steel target.

Put a bullet through a paper target measuring 29"X 36". Wind speed was between 2-4 MPH. I used a Howa 1500 chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor, utilizing a Vortex Viper PST Gen 2, running 147 grain ELDM handloads.

The rifle was a custom 14.5" 6.5 Creedmoor AR-10 with a Craddock Precision barrel made from a Bartlein 400 Mod BB blank. The target was an 18"x18" square positioned at 1,773 yards. Applied Ballistics had provided an accurate elevation estimate, but the wind call was significantly off. I had measured a 7-8 mph wind from 125 degrees, and the software had calculated a 1.2 mil wind hold, while the actual hold needed was closer to 3.3 mils. Due to the scope’s limit of 16 mils on the turret, I had to use approximately 9 mils in the reticle. The shooter’s position in a slight valley, combined with the lack of wind markers or noticeable heat mirage, likely made it difficult to assess the wind accurately.

Wind 3 o’clock 6mph - 1st round impact cold bore.

The wind speed was 12mph!!

Its been one of my long time goals to hit a target past a mile, and i got lucky to finally find a good range and have the right tools to do so. Fouled Bore Precision LLC typically maxes out at 1,350 yards from the main shooter stands, however, they have a flatbed truck from which you can shoot from a little over 400 yards further back from the stands. I decided that this 4th of july, id make it happen, bore sighted, zeroed, then got on the truckbed after ensuring the range is clear and sending my drone to act as a close in spotter. After a few misses, and adjustments, I finally landed 2 clean impacts on the target.

Hit a 12” plate at 1770 yards, 4 mph NE wind, using a 6.5CM 140GR ELDM. It was a 3.7 sec flight!

Gun built for long distance hunting and shooting, Christensen Arms, temp 58, wind 4-8mph.

We were using a18" inch x 24" inch x 3/4" AR 500 steel target. Wind speed was 0.8 mph L to R. Temperature was 52 degrees F. The first shot missed left. Wind change. The next three shots hit center of the target..

Joe hit his target at 1766 yards 3 times before it was decided to record his impressive feat. Joe used a .300 PRC with a 30” 1-8” Douglas Barrel on an Remington 700 action. His rifle featured a PTG bolt, KRG machined chassis, Trigger Tech Premium Competition, Nightforce NX8 4x32x50 Optic, Burris 40MOA base and rings and Atlas Bipod. Using a Hornady 220ELDX, Ramshot LRT powder, Federal Primers, and Hornady Brass he was able to push the projectile at 3038FPS. All of this was combined with his DOPE including 60MOA of elevation, a 10MOA left to right windage call, 10.6 inches of spin drift and 1.2 feet of coriolis effect.

7+ mph southerly wind at 1000 yards , no flag at a mile. Ruger precision 300 PRC with only straight grip upgrade and Vortex Venom 5-25x56 FFP scope. Factory 225 gr ELD Match ammo. 1 MOA target hit at 1765 yds.

18” steel target at 1765, light wind moving left to right at 600 yards, almost none at 1100 yards, and moving right to left at a mile. I used all of my elevation adjustment and was still aiming about 1 mill below the bottom line on my scope. 6.5 Creedmoor, DD Delta 5 Pro

Wind 15-20 mph south east, shot with a Ruger Precision .308 Winchester

Hit the 1,765 yard target using a 6.5 RPR with Nomad Rifleman ELR Experiences, 1.5 MOA target, Vortex Razor scope.

My one mile shot was on an 18" steel target with a cross wind of 12-15 mph. Shot it with a Ruger Precision almost straight out of the box with less than 30 prior shots. The ammunition was factory 6.5 creedmoor.

On target with a RPR Caliber, 6.5 Creedmoor Ammo, and 140gr Hornady Match. The wind speed was all over the place but mostly RtoL; 0-15.

18'' round steel rung 4 times at 1765 yards with .280 Remington, Vortex Razor Gen II 4.5-27x56 on 40 MOA rail, 160 grain Sierra MK load w/IMR powder, various cross winds w/various direction and speed (approx. 5-10mph) across the valley. What a blast!

I didn't measure the wind but it was blowing the flag almost 90 degrees and switching constantly. Me and my two buddies were able to get hits on an 18” circle steel plate with my 6.5CM. Adjustments were 28.6 Mils elevation and 2-4 Mils wind. 26" barrel shooting 143gr Norma Golden Target factory ammo!

1764 yards onto a 18 inch gong. Winds were between 6-8 mph at full value. 18.5 mil adjustment vertical with a 2.5 mil left adjustment. 215 grain Berger hybrids out of Remington 700 300 win mag. July 11, 2020

Shooting just barely over a mile at 1763 yards. My gun is a Bergara premier competition chambered in 6.5 creedmoor with a 20 moa rail. The scope is Primary Arms GLX 4.5-27x56. Ammo is factory Hornady 147g ELD Match. Target size was 18”x18”. Temp was 48, sunny, and calm winds. I dialed up 25.3 mils with an additional 3 mil holdover, and only a 0.1 left windage.

9mph winds shooting 308 with 168 HPBT holding 125 MOA with 25 MOA left for wind a lot of people said 308 wouldn’t do it but we had 2 impacts recorded.

We were shooting on the Guitar Ranch in Spur, TX. The target was 1,762 yards away and we shot against a 5 mile crosswind. The shot was made with a Fierce Carbon Rival XP chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor shooting Barnes 140gr Precision Match ammunition.

On Monday, November 7th, 2022 I knocked out a 1 mile shot in Disappointment Valley, Colorado. I fired a Noreen ULR 50BMG with Lake City 660 grain ammunition. An Athlon Optics Argos BTR Gen2 6-25X50 APLR2 FFP IR MOA on Steiner T-series precision rings. Extremely windy conditions. The 30 MPH cross winds forced me to use the maximum holdover on the reticle. A three man team included Jim Klusmier and Mike Rubin. We used a Vortex Razor 4000 yard rangefinder and two people confirmed the distance from each direction. Jim and I compared notes from our Hornady Ballistic Calculator, and Mike used a 60mm Swarovski scope to call out hits. A special thanks to Branson. He made several suggestions that proved very helpful - it was clear he understood the challenge and I'm grateful for his thoughts and his time. 1,761 yards! 80’ drop, 45’ wind correction!!

Had a coach come to the hunting site that had a 1 mile range and brough his Ruger Precision Rifle chambered in .338 Lapua Mag for us to try our hand at long distance shooting. He showed me how to shoot long distance and explained the math and why we did what we did. Started at 1000 yards, which I had never shot that far before and moved out to the mile. Two shots and I was a direct hit.

New to long range shooting. Great experience. It was quite windy with winds ~12-16 mph. Temperature was 48 degrees. Approximately 10-12 shooters. Drove down from Indiana to take the challenge. Shout out to Ray Helms @x-Ring for all the knowledge. The head range master , Mike, was great and made the challenge enjoyable.

I was the 8th person to hit the 8-inch target at one mile.

A steady 5 to 10 mph wind from the SSE added challenge to the 18" steel target, engaged with a .300 PRC.

The target was at a distance of 1,760 yards and measured just under 2 MOA, with wind blowing from the 5 o’clock position at 8 MPH and gusts reaching 12 MPH

Conditions were tough, with a 7 to 10 mph wind challenging the 1 MOA target at one mile.

Light winds from 2 to 5 mph and clear 80-degree sunshine made for a steady and readable shot.

The shot was made in the rain using a Barrett .416, earning both a commemorative case and Barrett’s Mile Challenge coin.

March 9, 2019. Used a Ruger American Predator in 6.5 Creedmoor, with an SWFA SS Fixed 10x, shooting factory Hornady 140ELD-M rounds. Strelok called for 97 moa, only had 83 moa in my turrets. Held 14 moa over, got five hits in a row once my spotter walked me in. 10-12MPH Wind, (4-5 shots until first impact).

August 3, 2019, 6MPH wind from 9-oclock. I took my two boys out to nearby Daniel Wyoming to try the mile shot with A Christiansen 28 Nosler shooting Berger 195 EOL w Retumbo powder. Target distance: 1,760 yards. 1 Mile with my Savage 10 BA Stealth in 6.5 Creedmoor. I was using the Vortex Viper PST Gen I 6-24x50 FFP with Burris XTR Rings with 30 MOA inserts. I was bottomed out with 59 MOA in the scope so I had to go down to 36 MOA in the reticle to make the shot. I had a 2 MOA holdover for a right to left 3-4 mph crosswind.

I hit the 1 Moa target at 1760 yards using AI AXMC in 338LM using 285gr ELDM. 5 round impact.

1760 yards at Thunder Valley Precision range. Sept. 07, 2020. Wind was around 20 MPH and direct cross. My son and I were shooting my Ruger Precision Rifle in 6.5 Creedmoor with 140 gr. ELD-M bullets. Vortex HST scope ran out of elevation adjustment and we had to hold over to a treeline feature above the target. Both my son, Mitchell and I registered hits on the one mile steel target.

August 2020. Dead still day. 1760 yards. I've been attempting a mile for a long time with no luck. I had hit 1600 yards a few times prior to this and I am not 100% these hits count as i didn't have a witness but will happily do it again with one. I have dialed this shot many times but judging wind here in Wyoming can be difficult. This dead still day was unique and made the shot a lot easier, 4 out of 5 shots on an 18" target. My Ruger Precision 6.5 Creedmoor. Custom loaded 147 eld match rounds.

I hit my one mile target at The Clinton House on 4/26/2020. Target was exactly one mile, 10 to 12 mph winds for approximately the last 1/8th mile. Made the hit with an MPA 300 win mag at 10:30am

First time ever shooting at a mile. Remington 700 Longe Range 7mm Mag. Sightron 8x32x56 scope. 180 gr. Hornady ELD Match bullet. Hit a 24" x 24" steel plate on the 4th shot! 10MPH wind

After some instruction and warming up with RO Mike Sexton, we set up two 6.5 Creedmoor rifles and used Hornaday ELD 140 grain match rounds. Partly cloudy conditions, 40 degrees with a light wind of 3-6 MPH. Feb 29, 2020.

Feb 22, 2020, To achieve a long time goal to hit 1mile with a purpose built 300wm. We couldn't of picked a better day. Very low wind 5-7mph 58* day partly overcast. Gorgeous day! We started the day doing some plinking out to a 1000yards after getting good hits and verifying zeros we went to 1500yards the 3 of us all got good solid hits. Now for the main event. 1760yard the 1 mile shot! 3 out of the 30 shots I sent hit 1 mile! Couldn't be happier! 3-5 MPH Wind. Now on to the next goal 2600 yards. October 16, 2019. 3 MPH wind. Headed out to Price Utah for a Long Range Shooters of Utah course with Bryce having never shot a bolt action rifle and walked out of there with a 1000 yard Milk Jug Challenge sticker. Multiple impacts and 1200, 1500 and 1 mile. Awesome Instructor!

October 5, 2019, Hit a 2moa Target (actually a Boulder) at 1760+ yards. 4 times out of 6 shots. Using Tikka TX3 Tac A1, 6.5 Creedmoor, 140 grains ELD match bullets with Lapua Brass and 41.2 grains of H4350. Vortex Razor HD Gen II 4.5-27. 92 moa of Elevation, 8 moa of Wind Hold. 1760 + yards. Ranged nearby object at 1756 yards on my Sig Kilo Binos. We were on Hilltop looking up the side of a Mountain, hard to get Wind Speed but, held 8 moa of Windage.

Target was a 24" X 24" steel plate at 1760 yards. Temp was 59 degrees and wind less than 5MPH. Firearm used; Barrett M107A1 with a 20" barrel, 661 grain bullet.

It was a fantastic day spent with Scott and Shepard from Jackson Hole Shooting Experience and my son, Ruaidhri. It was a special experience to join the mile clue with my son! Excellent equipment and food. We are excited to return in the future and go for further distances!

There was light wind from right to left at 4 mph!

It was a hot 90 degrees at 5:45pm with a slight breeze right to left at target and held 1MOA right. We had been shooting starting at 100 yards and walking it out to the 1760 yard target.

I was using a Remington model 700, 24 inch heavy varmint barrel, shooting 168 grain Sierra match tip bullet loaded at 2700 feet per second. Upgraded with a magpul hunter stock, timney 2 stage trigger with 2lb trigger pull, with a Vortex Strike Eagle Scope. The wind was east to west with 15 mph gusts and the temperature was 103.

Wind speed was 5mph at 430. Hit the target on my first attempt.

On target using a Remington 700 Long Range 30-06, 4-12x40 Vortex Diamondback Tactical SFP scope, and 180 grain Hornady Superformance 30-06 Springfield factory ammo!

Hit an 18" plate from a mile away on the 4th shot. What makes this even better is that I did it with factory ammo and a production gun with zero modifications. Out of the 6 of us in class, 3 of us rung the steel. The 2 other participants that hit, had very expensive custom guns with hand loads. Just goes to show you that you can be part of the club and not have to spend 10k. It was very windy today!

On April 23rd, 2022, I hit was on target with a 3000 PRC full custom build with Atlas bipod and Nightforce ATACR 5-25x. The temperature hovered around 40 degrees, winds were all over from 10am to noon. Wind was 12-14 mph with gusts to 22-23 mph. I hit the target three time, with the first and second hit being back to back and the third hit was a solid center with an audible “ding” considering the wind conditions.

Thanks to the introduction, guidance and personal effort of my son Jason, I have achieved a personal goal of shooting a mile. A 1,760 yard shot at Thunder Valley Precision with my Savage 110 precision 338 Lapua Magnum with a Nightforce ATACR 7-35-56 mm with a 4 mph wind and an M.O.A. Of 62.75h hitting a 18” round steel target on May 4th, 2022 was a goal I never thought I would reach.

April 30th, 2022, I shot over 2 canon’s off Lake Amistad. Wind was East to West with a 5-8 mph wind out of the Southwest.

Recently divorced and ready to live my best life, I joined the Mile Long Shot Club on May 7th, 2022.

On April 30th, 2022, four senior shooters, all 6.5 Creedmoor and members of Riverbend Gun Club, Dawsonville. GA. As a group we progressed from 550 yards at our club to 600 yards at CMP, Talladega, to 1000 yards at Dead Zero Shooting Park in Spenser, TN. The closest place to try a mile, from the Atlanta area, is the Clinton Plantation, in Clinton, SC. The plantation allows non-members to try the mile shoot once per month, but you must use their spotter. Their spotter checks your zero at 500 yards and then guides you to the mile. All four of us received the Mile Club award coin after hiring the 24”x48” target (that’s a 1.5 MOA).

At 10:30am on May 1st, 2022, I rang the 18” steel target with a 6.5 Creedmoor, Tikka T3X Tac A1 and Copper Creek 140 gr Berger Hybrid. It was 72 degrees, partly cloudy, with wind 5-12 full value at target. E was 110 MOA & W 6 MOA.

Hit a gallon milk jug filled with red food-colored water using a Remington .308 700 PSS with a 8-40x scope and a Browning 7mm A-Bolt Stainless Stalker and a 4-12 power scope.

2.8 wind speed from the west and hit with a 338 LM Ruger Precision rifle, Vortex Razor Gen2, 4.5-27x 56HD, Voxtex Precision rings, Atlas 5-H bipod, Precision mono pod, 285 grain H, IMR 7828 ssc, 78.8 g, 2420 fps, 81MOA up.

Bought a 6.5 PRC and wanted to shoot a mile. Found a 2000 yard range outside of Plant city , fl. They had a 1 mile steel plate set up. 1760 yards. We went and shot the one mile early Sunday morning, 12-13-2020, no wind.

Wind speed 5mph right to left and shooting a .300 pro. Target was 2’x4’ and lit up when hit.

On target with a Bergara B-14 HMR chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor. Glass used was a Vortex Strike Eagle 5-25x56.

One mile on a 36’’x36’’ steel plate. Wind was full value right to left at 7-12mph. I was shooting a 300 prc.

Competed at King of ONe Mile Caylus in France in June 2021. The wind was not strong and finished 7th in the completion.

I have spent some time getting to 1,760 yards. For me 1,200 wasn’t too bad, a mile was a lot harder. I used a Savage.338 Lapua Magnum with Sierra 300 grain Match King bullets. Also a Vortex 5 x 25 scope. Wind about 4mph from the right.!

Wind speed was 11 mph with gusts up to 24 mph. Multiple hits, 7 on 36×36 steel with a Ruger 300 prc and Hornady 225 gr.

On May 20th, 2001, the wind in the morning was around 3 m/s from 10 o’clock, evening wind of about 5 m/s from 3 o’clock. The gun was a Savage Apex .300 Win Mag. The steel target in competition NRA USDA Forest Service Challenge Corp.

ON May 14th, 2023, I had 5 hits using a Sako S20 in 6.5PRC with 140 gr H-ELDM and 58gr Hodgdon Superformance. MZ ~ 2950 but EL at 1760 consistently 19.7 mils.

On July 31st, 2021, The wind was 5-10 mph left to right. I used a .300 prc and hit the 18” round steel target 4 times.

On June 8th, 2023 using a 6mm ARC gas gun with 20" BBL. 108gr Hornady ELD-M over CFE 223 I hit the 24" x 24" Steel Target.

On June 10th, 2023, I shot a 6mm Creedmor built by Ga Firing Line in Marietta. Target was 1790 yards and hit an 18"' x 24" plate with a wind speed approx 4 mph.

On July 10th 2023, I was participated in a GBA 1 Mile Match. I was on target with my RPR in .338 with a Vortex Razor Gen II 4.5-27x56. 30” Bartlein Barrel shooting 300gr Berger @ 2870. Published a 5 shot 18.878” group.

I am a 12 year old young man that shot a 1 M.O.A. (18”) target at a distance of 1,760 yards with the help and guidance of my Grand pap and Uncle. I hit it with a 338 Edge with a NightForce ATACR 7-35-56 mm built by my Uncle with a M.O.A. 60.75 and 5 mph wind. WHAT AN AWESOME DAY at the range. Can’t wait to go back!!!

What made this trip special was sharing it with my dad who also had his first 1 mile hit! I used a Tikka t3x tac a1 in 6.5 Creedmore Hornady 147 grain ELD .The wind was calm at 3 knots and the target was a steel plate measuring 18”X30”.

I was on target with a Christensen Arms Long Range Rifle, 6.5 Creedmore. The wind was calm and the target was a steel 18”X30” plate!

It was a tough first range day with a new rifle, untested ammo, and no spotter at the competition—I missed at several distances. On day two, I hoped for improvement, but the new rifle and ammo combination still didn’t perform as expected, and my ballistic data was off. Frustrated, I approached the final 1-mile target, determined to give it one last shot. Ignoring my dope card, I adjusted higher, shifted 0.5 mrad left, held my breath, and pulled the trigger—impact! The steel plate shook, and with no time to lose, I repeated the process. Impact. Two more shots hit their mark, and I finally found my rhythm.

The target was 1,760 yards away, measuring 2 MOA at 36” x 36”. I used a Daniel Defense Delta 5 Pro chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor. The rifle was equipped with a Vortex Razor HD Gen III scope.

The target distance was 1,760 yards. I used a custom Zermatt action with a Criterion barrel chambered in .300 WM, firing 215-grain Bergers at 2,925 FPS. There was an 8 mph crosswind coming from the left.

The target was set at 1,760 yards. It was an 18-inch circular steel plate.

I managed to hit the 18” MOA plate three times, making it a great day of shooting. From 9am to 3pm, I fired 140 rounds of Hornady 140 grain ELD match ammunition, working my way from 300 yards to the mile targets. I used my first long-range budget rifle, a Ruger Precision in 6.5 Creedmoor, equipped with a Vortex Venom 5-25 scope.

I successfully hit a mile-long shot using a Tikka T3x Tac A1 in 6.5 Creedmoor.

Using a 6 BR with Hornady 108 GR ELDM, I achieved 27.5 mills of elevation and 2 mills of left wind adjustment on a 1.5 MOA steel target. This resulted in four successful hits.

I attended a long-range shooting course where I aimed at a milk jug measuring 5.960" W x 9.790" H. Due to the California DOJ confiscating my rifle, I rented a custom-made American Rifle Co. rifle in 6mm Creedmoor. This rifle featured a Mausingfield action, Bartlein heavy barrel, KRG Bravo chassis, TriggerTech Diamond trigger, and a Vortex scope in mils. Previously, I had only shot up to 300 yards and considered 100 yards to be long-distance. During the course, I hit the 1000-yard milk jug on my first attempt and, after a few shots, successfully hit the 1-mile target on my fifth attempt.

Using a Ruger Precision Rifle chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor, equipped with Hornady's 140-grain ELD-M match ammunition, I successfully engaged and hit a target less than 2 MOA at a distance of one mile.

I took a shot at a mile in 1-5 mph winds using 6.5 Creedmoor 140gr Barnes Match Ammo.

I took a shot at 1760 yards with wind conditions of +/- 5 mph. The range had targets from 300 to 1760 yards, and I hit the mile long target on my 3rd attempt.

I took a shot at 1760 yards with an 8-10 mph wind. Using an MPA BA Comp rifle in 6.5 Creedmoor, I hand-loaded 140gr Hornady ELD Match bullets in Lapua brass with 42.66gr of H4350. The shot achieved a velocity of 2845 FPS with 84.5 MOA up on a Tract Toric Ultra HD scope.

I took a mile-long shot in 6 mph winds using a 6.5 Creedmoor with 143 grain Hornady ELD-M ammunition.

The target was at a distance of one mile, requiring a wind hold of 3.5 mills and an elevation adjustment of 22.5 mills. I used a Christensen Arms 300 PRC with a Vortex Razer Gen II scope for the shot.

I made an elevation correction of 19.6 mills and accounted for 3.5 mills of wind while shooting with a Christensen Arms 300 PRC. The shot was taken using a Vortex Razer Gen II scope.

We were out at the range with a target distance of one mile and a 16 mph crosswind. I took the shot with my Christensen Arms MPR in 300 PRC. I used a Vortex Strike Eagle 5-25x56 scope for the shot.

With a Daniel Defense Delta 5 Pro .308 (7.62x51), I rang the 4x4 steel target. The scope was a Razor HD Gen III 6-36X56 FFP with Nightforce Wedge Prism 100 MOA. It was a nice warm August day with temperatures at 87 degrees and 64% humidity!!

Took my Tikka Tac A1 in 6.5 Creedmoor to the range. Wind speed was 6m/s and my ammunition was 147gr Hornady ELD Match!!

I was on target with a 1 MOA steel plate at 1760 yards. There was a 6 mph cross wind and shooting a Tikka CTR 6.5 creedmoor in a KRG X-ray chassis with Leupold mk5 5-25!!

The Bullet had a 200 foot drop with a 4.3 second time of flight. I was on target on my 9th attempt!

The target is a 36” gong, and I engaged it using a custom 338 Lapua rifle crafted by Tactical Rifles in Lakeland, FL. The rifle is equipped with a March X 8x80 optic. For ammunition, I utilized Hornady 300 grain A-Tip bullets, which were traveling at 2747 fps at the muzzle. To adjust for elevation, I dialed 50 and 7/8 MOA from a 600 yard zero.

Utilizing my .338 rifle, I dialed everything in and achieved a notable success - a cold bore first-shot hit on a 36” square steel target. Following this accomplishment, my spotter directed me to shift focus to a nearby 10” round target. Despite aiming at its left edge, my initial shot missed, landing on the edges. However, perseverance paid off, as my third shot found its mark. Throughout these attempts, a 6 mph wind blew from the 9 o'clock direction, prompting me to adjust my elevation to 76 MOA. Additionally, with the 6.5 Creedmoor rifle, I demonstrated proficiency at a mile distance, achieving cold bore hits with both rifles. Furthermore, the .338 rifle successfully hit a 10” gong at the same distance, showcasing its accuracy and reliability.

On my 18th shot, I finally nailed the 2x4 foot target. The day was marked by robust gusts of wind and intense mirages, adding to the challenge. Armed with a 6.5 Creedmoor rifle loaded with a 147gr ELD Match bullet, each attempt was a test of precision and patience. The moment when the spotter/RSO handed me the 1 Mile club coin is etched in my memory, an unforgettable validation of skill and accomplishment.!

On a wet, damp day with a mild breeze, I embarked on a challenging shooting session. Beginning at 400 yards, I gradually pushed the limits, advancing to 1000 yards and eventually reaching the impressive distance of one mile. Despite the adverse conditions, I achieved multiple hits at the mile mark. Notably, I managed to hit a target with a 1 MOA size at this extreme distance, achieving success twice. Armed with a Ruger RPR equipped with a 28" Bartlein barrel and loaded with 150gr Sierra MK bullets, each shot was a testament to precision and determination!

At a distance of 1760 yards, I took aim with my 6.5 Creedmoor rifle, targeting an 18-inch steel plate. Battling against challenging wind conditions, with a steady 15-mile-per-hour wind and gusts reaching up to 25 miles per hour, each shot demanded precise calculation and skillful adjustment.!

At a distance of 1760 yards, I made two consecutive shots with my 6mm Creedmoor rifle, utilizing 110 gr A-Tip ammunition. With careful adjustment, I dialed 66 MOA and made a left correction of 4 MOA to account for wind and other factors!

After the match, I had the opportunity to shoot my friend's 300 Win Mag rifle. On the second shot, I successfully hit a target at a distance of one mile. The wind was moderate, blowing between 5-7 mph.!

During an Extreme Long Range (ELR) match, I achieved a remarkable feat by hitting a target situated one mile away using a 300 Win Mag rifle. Despite the challenge posed by a 5-7 mph wind, I managed to maintain accuracy and precision, securing a successful shot!

The rifle was a Ruger Precision Rifle 300 Win Mag with a Yankee Hills Machine/Resonator 2 silencer. Accu Tac BR-4 G2 bipod. Adjustable Bag Rider from Long Shot Precision with a Protektor Model round back leather bag. The Temperature was 74 degrees. Wind was 3 to 5 mph at 6 o clock.Target distance was 1760 yds. Bullet was a custom load 195 g Hornady ELD Max bullet. 66 g H4350. Hornady brass.!

After my husband purchased Nomad Rifleman’s Extreme Long Range Shooting Fun by Scott Austin and Shepard Humphries, we decided to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary in a unique way—by joining the authors in the Wyoming desert. Armed with a 6.5 Creedmoor, I was thrilled to hit the mile-long target on my very first attempt. My husband soon followed, and the excitement of achieving this milestone together was unforgettable. Scott and Shepard were fantastic, encouraging us to push our limits even further. With a .338 Lapua Magnum, my husband successfully hit the 1.25-mile target. He even attempted the elusive 2-mile target, and I’m convinced he would have succeeded if we hadn’t already run 30 minutes past our end time. The instruction we received was exceptional. Shepard and Scott are two of the nicest people you could ever meet, and I genuinely felt they were as invested in our success as we were. This day, and the memories we made, will stay with me forever. It was the perfect way to mark a milestone anniversary with an extraordinary experience!

Shooting at one mile in a 6-8 MPH crosswind, I scored a hit with a 300 PRC on my second shot. About an hour later, I connected again in three shots using a Christensen Arms Traverse in 6.5 PRC, paired with a Vortex Razor HD Gen III 6-36x56 scope and 143-grain Norma Golden Target ammo!

Shooting at one mile in a 6-8 MPH crosswind, I landed my first hit with a 300 PRC on the third shot. An hour later, I repeated the feat—this time needing only two shots with a Christensen Arms Traverse in 6.5 PRC, equipped with a Vortex Razor HD Gen III 6-36x56 scope and 143-grain Norma Golden Target ammo.

A 30-inch by 30-inch AR400 steel target was engaged using a PGW Timberwolf chambered in .300 PRC (Precision Rifle Cartridge), equipped with Schmidt and Bender optics featuring a mildot reticle and a Seb Joypod. The setup included a Hornady HIT indicator for impact detection. Shooting conditions were clear and sunny with a temperature of 50°F, and the wind varied from 6 to 9 mph, blowing right to left. The shot was taken in a southerly direction, demonstrating the precision of the equipment under shifting wind conditions!

After successfully hitting 12-inch metal plates at 1,200 yards, we adjusted for the target at 1,760 yards. The setup included a .338 Lapua Ruger Precision Rifle mounted with a 20 MOA rail and a Vortex Razor HD 4.5-27x56mm scope featuring the Horus H3 reticle. The ammunition used was .338 Lapua Magnum 250-grain boat tail box rounds. Conditions were favorable with light wind, allowing for precise adjustments and accurate engagement at the extended range!!

I was shooting a brand new Bergara B14 HMR in 6.5 creedmoor. I zeroed it in and shot it at 850 ,1000, 1200, and 1760 yards. In total it took 36 shots hitting the 18 x 24 inch plate with two consecutive shots.I was also shooting Hornady Black 140 gr BTHP!

The temperature was 70 degrees with winds varying in direction and speeds between 7 and 15 mph. Using an MPR in .300 Norma Magnum with 250-grain A-tips, 18.5 mil elevation, and 2.5 mils for wind, I managed to hit an 18-inch steel plate at 1,760 yards twice!!!

I successfully hit a 24" steel plate at 1,760 yards with my Remington 700 chambered in .338 Lapua Magnum. The conditions were challenging, with a temperature of 84 degrees, 45% humidity, and a 10.5 mph wind coming from the west!!

I was on target with my 1st round using a 300 Win Mag!!

I connected with a 16x16” square plate on the sixth shot. I dialed in 59.4 MOA for elevation and 4.5 MOA left for windage, using a Christensen Arms Mesa Long Range in 7mm PRC with an Arken Optics SH-4J 6-24x50 FFP scope!!

I used a Bergara .300 Win Mag with a factory barrel paired with an S&B 5-25x56 PM II scope. The conditions were challenging, with NNW winds at 8-10 knots, a temperature of 61°F, and light rain or mist!!!

I shot a Masterpiece Arms 6mm Dasher, housed in an MPA BA Competition Chassis, with a Leupold VX-6 7-42x56 34mm side focus target TMOA scope. The scope remained exceptionally clear at all targets, even at a distance of one mile. Despite the overcast skies, 80-degree temperature, and light variable winds, I missed with my first several shots but finally connected on my seventh, verifying the hit with three more shots!!!

I shot a Masterpiece Arms 6mm Dasher at 1,760 yards (1 mile). The weather was overcast, around 78 degrees, with light and variable winds and no mirage. My very first shot landed about one foot short, dead center of the target. On the second shot, I adjusted up 1 MOA, but it went over the target. My next few shots were affected by the wind, blowing them to the right, but after several more shots, holding to the left, I finally hit the target. I verified the hit by striking the target again after about four shots. Afterward, I was challenged to shoot the 1 MOA mile challenge, which is a 17.5-inch plate (about the size of a large dinner plate). After about five shots, I hit the 1 MOA target and immediately followed up with a second hit to verify!!

With an 8 mph crosswind, it took me 11 shots to make an impact. Once everything was dialed in, I managed to hit the target four times. I didn’t have enough travel in my scope, so I had to hold an additional 6 mils of elevation in the reticle!

A steel target measuring 4 feet by 4 feet was set up at a distance of one mile. The wind was blowing at 5 mph from the east-southeast, with gusts reaching up to 13 mph. Using a Bergara B14 chambered in .300 PRC with 225-grain ammunition, a 5-shot group resulted in a 10-inch spread. A second rifle, the Bergara Premier Competition in 6.5 Creedmoor, achieved 11 hits out of 14 shots!!

The wind speed was negligible, and despite never having shot long distance before, after receiving long-distance training, I made contact with a 1,000 yard target on my first day. Two days later, I returned to the 1-mile range, using a Kahles 6x24 scope maxed at 17.4 mils with an additional 6 mils of holdover. I hit the 2x4 target on the third attempt and then for nine consecutive shots, eventually switching to the 1-mile MOA target and finishing the day with a total of four hits!

In Terrell, Texas at Northeast Texas Tactical Andrew made his hit at 1750 yards when he launched his 144gr Berger Long Range Hybrid at 2810fps from his Bergara B-14 HMR. Ther was a 2mph wind from 11 o’clock and he got to watch it all through his Vortex Razor Gen III 6-36x.

The target distance was 1,750 yards, just over a mile. The wind was swirling, with a prevailing direction from the west at 3-7 mph.
